To Rebeka

Photo Taken by Terryl

To Rebekah

It was a day like any other until…

                I sensed a tiny spark.

A quiet knowing that you were there.

It was a day like any other until…

                I sensed something missing.

Your tiny spark.  Gone. Extinguished.

The emptiness was as strong as my sadness.

Overwhelming.

It wasn’t that we did not want you.

I looked forward to feeling you grow

and begin to move in my womb.

To endure the pains of labor

and know, beyond anything,

                you were worth it.

I couldn’t wait for your daddy

to place you in my arms.

To hear your newborn protest
                against leaving the warmth and

                security of my body.

I am up most nights now,

But not because I’ve heard

                your tiny cries.

I am the one, crying.

Slowly.  Healing.

I rescue baby squirrels because my children don’t want to see the cat from down the street take care of them for me.  I have a wonderfully supportive mom and husband who encourage me in my pursuit of photography.  Above all, I pray that my life is simply a reflection of God’s glory."
